The Deer Lake Red Wings have made it three straight wins to kick of their West Coast Senior Hockey League season. The Red Wings thrilled a large homerown crowd, knocking off the Corner Brook Royals 7-4 in their season opener on Hodder ice.
The Deer Lake combination of veteran Ryan Penney and rookies Drew Langdon and Mason Campbell led the winners offensively, registering 8 points. Penney notched 2 goals and 1 assist, Langdon had a goal and 2 helpers, and Campbell chipped in with 2 set-ups.
Michael Maher, Stephen Simms, Josh Skinner, and Noah Legge had 2 point nights for the Red Wings.
Joshua Taylor had a 3 point night for Corner Brook, including 2 goals. Linemates Josh Smith and Matt Colbourne had 2 point nights.
