There will be west coast senior hockey league action Friday at the Civic Center with the Port aux Baaques Mariners taking on the Royals.
The Juan Strickland-coached Mariners have had a challenging start to the season, as they have been dealing with short benches, mainly because of player work committments. Team President Jamie Young indicates this is a problem for the Mariners each fall, but things are falling into place. The Mariners are expected to have their largest roster of the season Friday in Corner Brook.
The Royals have been challenged by player work schedules as well; last Friday, the team was missing a half dozen skaters when they took on the Red Wings in Deer Lake. Coach Darren Colburne points out the team should be in better shape Friday night.
Game time Friday is 8:00 pm.
